On February 10th, 2026, BHA MIST hosted a night of preparation and fun. The goal of this night was to allow the MIST participants the space to work on their various competitions, and to develop themselves to be the best they can, hoping to win this year’s MIST competitions.
In the first half of the night, the MIST student body had the pleasure of being entertained by the Spoken Word poets. They had been working very hard, crafting their poems, and had the opportunity to practice presenting their hard work in front of a crowd for the first time at MIST night. The next practice presentation was followed by lots of laughter. Looking around the auditorium, you could see shiny smiles all around, giving BHA hope that our improv team could truly win Dallas regionals. The final presentation gave us a sneak peek into what the nasheed teams had in store, with their synchronized choreography and melodious harmonization. The floor was opened to the audience, allowing previous MIST competitors to advise and coach the newer arrivals.

The volleyball, basketball, and soccer teams also had the opportunity to refine their skills, and connect with their team members in the practices throughout MIST night. Lyane Sawas remarked at the end of her volleyball practice, “I’m so glad I got the chance to brush up on my serves. It’s been a while since I played.” The gyms were filled with laughter, as each team connected with their members, and formed bonds that would be strong enough to withstand the competition day.

Lastly, everyone’s favorite portion of the night left everyone with memories that would never be forgotten. Competitors that had signed up for the cupcake eating contest were given nothing but three cupcakes, a bottle of water, and a stopwatch, running against the clock to win the grand prize of a Dutch Bros gift card. The winner of the evening, Ahmed Idris, shares the secret to “fast-as-possible cupcake eating.” “The trick is to start with water. I was basically drinking those cupcakes.”
Afterwards, MIST members competed in a Kahoot game about Dallas MIST and BHA MIST history, quizzing their knowledge and dedication to the club. The stakes were high, as the winner of this Kahoot game was granted the opportunity to pie a board member of their choice. In a not so surprising turn of events, Osayd Haq, MIST Co-President, emerged in first place. What was surprising to all those in attendance, however, was his choice of passing on the grand pieing prize to third place winner Daniyal Awais, and Tala Mahmoud. Collectively as a club, the targets of pieing were Nawal Iqbal and Nuaym Zain.
Overall, MIST night was an enjoyable and productive night that no one is soon to forget. With fun competitions sparking school spirit and friendly competition, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and went home feeling satisfied, happy, and with a bit of whipped cream on their noses. The MIST Board and Advisors are to be thanked for the organization of this wonderful event. We hope BHA wins many competitions in the upcoming tournament, InshaAllah!
