“1, 2, 3, 4, everybody hit the floor!”, chanted the BHA students for every ace. The Girls Volleyball Senior Night was an unforgettable moment for the varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams. Junior varsity started off the night by playing Christo Rey. The junior Stars took the first set while Christo Rey took the second. Everything was on the line, and this next set was going to determine who took the trophy home. In the end the junior varsity Stars pushed through, stealing the last set and taking the game home.
Right as the game ended, the junior varsity team raced to the changing stalls to surprise the varsity team with matching tutus and headbands under their neon theme. The varsity team was shocked and couldn’t help but smile. The varsity team began their warm-ups for the next game knowing this was their last chance to win as a team. After five grueling sets, our varsity team lost by only 4 points. Despite losing, the teamwork they showed during their game displayed great resilience, perseverance, and grit.
As the final whistle blew, a sea of emotions swept over the seniors on the varsity team. Hugs were shared, and tears fell as the seniors acknowledged their last game with their teammates. Sophomore, Eman Hayee, a junior varsity player described the scene as, “A bittersweet moment, they were celebrating their achievements, while also closing a chapter of their life that shaped them”.
Throughout the night, the audience was served free coffee from Beeso Coffee. Noor Radwan Hussein, a sophomore on the junior varsity team, remarked, “The coffee was amazing, and a really good way to keep ours and the audience’s energy high”.
Throughout the two games, the gym echoed with both the cheers and soft words of encouragement from the audience and the teams. As the night died down, the seniors took pictures with their family, sharing this beautiful moment with their loved ones. Thus, in the end, although Senior Night didn’t end in the best way possible, it was still a meaningful event that will undoubtedly resonate with the attendees and players for a long time.
Finally, we would like to congratulate the girls varsity and junior varsity volleyball team, and we wish the senior varsity team the best of luck in their next chapter of life.
