“Freshman Sulaiman Mohammed deep in thought while reading his AP Human Geography textbook.”

BHA freshmen were shocked to find AP Human Geography offered to them straight out of middle school in the 23-24 school year. AP Human Geography is a rigorous AP, or AP Advanced Placement course. The course is normally taken in 10th grade as it is harder to take in 9th grade because the students are fresh out of middle school. But at BHA, in the 23 – 24 school year, AP Human Geography was offered as an option over normal World History. Student reactions to this course have differed throughout the year. Some people think this course was not very difficult. Freshman Ahmad Mohmand says: “I feel like the course is moderately difficult, not as much as classes such as AP Biology, but harder than your normal subjects.” Other students feel this course is hard to get through. Freshman Sulaiman Mohammed says: “I feel this course is very hard if you’re trying to get an A in the class.”

When asked whether this course was a glimpse of what high school will be like, Freshman Ahmad Mohmand said: “I feel prepared for high school as this AP class is like a sample of the rest of my time in high school, and I am consistently scoring A’s in the class, however, it’s a shame that the 10 point buffer was removed.” Freshman Sulaiman Mohammed said: “I feel like it was totally worth it but I wouldn’t want to do it again.” AP in 9th grade was truly a shocker for many students, including me. This course, normally taken in 10th grade is easy for some students and a bit hard for others. For many, this course has been a glimpse of high school, and now makes it easier for students to decide what courses to take in their upcoming years.
