Hello BHA Stars, and welcome back to your monthly Horizon Highlights – a general recap of everything that has happened on campus this past month. During these first two months, we began adjusting to the new year, and allowing ourselves to get comfortable with the ever-familiar routine of school. Let’s take a look at everything that happened on campus this past August and September!
On August 4th, BHA welcomed its parents and students to campus for one of the most exciting and anticipated events of the school year –the Back to School Meet and Greet. This was a special chance for parents and students to meet new teachers, learn new schedules, and settle school supplies in lockers. After months of silence, the uproar of eager students finally made its way back to BHA, reminding the teachers of the anticipated year to come.
On Wednesday, August 6th, students came to school early in the morning for their very first day. Whether a student was new or returning, it was a thrilling day for all. The air of excitement and new experiences was almost tangible while students made their way around the school to attend their new classes. I hope that everyone had a wonderful first day of school, and that all the days to come are just as inspiring.
The rest of August passed in a blur. On Thursday, August 21st, the club fair occurred, where students had a chance ton visit the booths of various clubs, and decide which ones they want to commit to for the rest of the school year. Some new clubs, such as the Urdu Club and Financial Literacy Club, were introduced, giving students more opportunities to learn and grow at BHA. The last two Fridays of August were the 12th and 11th grade college info sessions, respectively, giving these older students a broader outlook on what is to come in the next few years.
September began with a three-day weekend for students to commemorate Labor Day – a welcoming recess from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Even though the school year had just started, this was a much needed break to recharge and get ready for the week ahead. This week, from the 1st through 7th, was an “A” week, so students attended after school programs such as volleyball, Future Doctors/HOSA, and Crochet Club. On Friday the 5th, the 10th graders attended a college guidance info session with their appointed counselor, Ms. Elkhatib, to coordinate plans for their success in the upcoming school year.
The week ahead was considerably uneventful, other than the fact that it was a “B” week and hosted a college info session for the 9th grade students. However, interim report cards were also issued to students, which, inshaAllah, was a good reminder of one of the most important aspects of BHA – the academics. I pray that we all did well, and were pleased by the results!
I hope you enjoyed reading this month’s highlights! Make sure to check back next month to see where BHA has taken us.
Until October, As-Salamu-Alaikum!
